Sydney Rubio, a freshman at Huntington Beach High in California, took third in the Division 1 girls final by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 17:26.5 at Woodward Park in Fresno at the CIF State Cross Country Championships. Rubio elevated to the No. 7 ninth-grader in California prep history at Woodward Park and the No. 8 all-time freshman overall.
