Sydney Rubio, a ninth-grader at Huntington Beach High in California, won the girls large school freshman race at the Fastback Invitational, covering the 1.7-mile layout in 12:28.0 for the fourth-fastest female time overall from the meet at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif.
